2022「CCCE 城市盃」數位科藝電競邀請賽由教育部指導，台中市政府教育局、中華文化教育協會、中華虛擬運動協會共同主辦，市府教育局表示，此屆分設4個系列主題、9大競賽項目，更特別設置各都「大隊長」任務編制，報名參賽分為「高中組」與「全國組」，即日起至6月28日開放報名，冠軍隊伍最高可獲1萬2,000元獎金，歡迎踴躍報名參賽！
教育局表示，自從國際奧委會2017年於瑞士洛桑舉行的第6屆奧林匹克高峰會將「電子競技」（eSports）視為「體育活動」，不僅國際間舉辦正式電競賽事愈來愈多，台灣許多高中、大學也陸續成立電競系或電競專班培育相關人才。
為讓有志投身電競領域的學生對電子競技有全方位體驗及多方位訓練，由台北市、新北市、桃園市、台中市、高雄市政府教育局與主辦協會攜手合力組成「城市教育聯盟」，連年舉辦「CCCE 城市盃」數位科藝電競邀請賽，今年已經來到第四屆。
教育局指出，「CCCE 城市盃」是全國最大規模的「電子競技」暨「產業科藝」賽事，旨在培養學生的跨領域思考、自主學習、創新應用與執行、團隊合作協力、增進科技與人文素養，並提升教師於新課綱核心素養的課程設計、教學品質與數位教學能力，參賽成績並得以納入學生的學習歷程檔案。
